Places We Went

Perhaps this should really be called "Places We Stayed". The lodges were amazing!

This is the inside of our Tent(!) at the Sweetwaters Tented Camp. Yes, that's right, you do see a toilet and a shower in the background. This is our idea of roughing it.
This is also Sweetwaters. Aren't acacia trees beautiful? There are over a hundred different types.
One of these "huts" is our room in the Maasai Mara in Kenya. The Serena chain of lodges were built and are owned by the Aga Kahn. And did he do a great job! Not only are they fun and luxurious, they also completely disappear into the landscape.
...and this is our "hut" at the Serena Serengeti in Tanzania.
This is the Serengeti. We found a perfect spot for a picnic right here. "Serenget" means "endless space." Never has a place been more aptly named.
Kate dangles dangerously over the Oldupai Gorge. Some of the earliest traces of human life have been discovered here.
