Animals We Saw

Boy oh wow did we see animals! Hundreds and thousands of them!

Sure, we'll show you the lions and elephants and rhinos, but first we want to introduce you to our very favourite-ist animals of all.

Meet the Warthogs!

Are they CUTE or what???!!!
Here they are hanging out with some gnus.
This is Bro. He's about a year old old. His mother was killed by a lion so he lives in a wildlife preserve. He's very friendly. Here you see him getting up close and personal with Kate. She loved it!
There are seemingly endless varieties of antelopes, each more beautiful than the next. This is a hartebeast.
This is the largest of the African antelopes, the eland. It weighs about a ton.

(Isn't it cool how Kate caught that eland poo in mid-air?)

We saw three different kinds of giraffes. This is a reticulated giraffe. Did you know they have the same number of bones in their neck as humans do?
We were overwhelmed by the beauty and power (and sometimes the number and the proximity) of the elephants. Aren't baby elephants CUTE!? It's easy to tell how old a baby elephant is: if it can walk underneath it's mother it's under a year old.

Don't Stop Now! There are lots more animals on the next page >>>>>
